Why It Matters

The lint you can't see is the part that starts fires.

The screen you clean after every load catches maybe half of it. The rest travels into the duct behind your dryer, where it packs down against every bend and elbow until air can barely move. Heat backs up. The motor runs hotter and longer. And the whole run becomes tinder sitting right next to a heating element.

It happens slowly enough that most homeowners never notice — until clothes stop drying, or something worse.

  • ~2,900residential clothes dryer fires reported in the U.S. each year
  • 34%of them caused by a failure to clean the dryer or its vent — the single leading factor
  • $35Min property loss annually

Warning Signs

Does your vent need cleaning?

If any of these sound familiar, your duct is almost certainly restricted. Three or more, and it needs attention now.

  • Clothes take more than one cycle

The most common symptom, and the one people put up with the longest.

  • The dryer is hot to the touch

Trapped heat that should be leaving through the duct instead of soaking into the cabinet.

  • You smell something burning

Stop using the dryer and get it inspected. This one isn't worth waiting on.

  • Lint around the outside vent hood

What's escaping outside is a small fraction of what's still packed inside.

  • The laundry room feels humid

Moist air that can't exit is condensing inside your walls instead.

  • It's been over a year

Annual cleaning is the standard recommendation — more often with pets or a large household.

Our Process

What an Intracoastal visit looks like

Four steps, start to finish. No mess left behind, and no vague "all done" — you get to see the airflow reading yourself.

  1. Inspect & measure

We pull the dryer, check the duct run, and take a baseline airflow reading so we know exactly what we're starting from.

  2. Brush & agitate

A rotating brush runs the full length of the duct, breaking packed lint free from every bend and elbow it's collected in.

  3. Vacuum extraction

A shop vac pulls the debris out as the brush works it loose. Anything that does make it onto the floor gets cleaned up before we leave — every job, no exceptions.

  4. Test, reconnect, report

We take a second airflow reading, reseal the connection, check the exterior hood and damper, and show you the before-and-after numbers.

FAQ

Questions homeowners ask

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

Once a year for a typical household. Go more often if you have pets, a large family, a long or complicated duct run, or if you're already noticing longer drying times.

How long does it take?

It depends on the duct run. A short, straight run goes quickly; long runs, roof vents, and second-storey exits all take longer. We'll give you a time estimate along with your quote, before any work starts.

Do I need to be home?

Yes, at least to let us in and to see the results at the end. We'll need access to the dryer and to the exterior vent.

Will it make a mess?

We pull the debris out with a shop vac as the brush releases it, and we clean the floor at the end of every job — that is standard, not an extra. The lint leaves with us.

Can you tell if my duct needs repair, not just cleaning?

Often, yes. Crushed flex hose, disconnected joints, and improper vinyl ducting all show up during the inspection. We'll show you what we find and what it would take to fix — no pressure either way.

Do you clean vents in condos and apartments?

Yes, as long as we can reach the exterior termination or the building allows access to it. Let us know the building type when you text and we'll confirm.
